Phoenix Police Seek Public Comment Through Dec. 1 for Reaccreditation

On November 1, the Phoenix Police Department in Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona, announced that from November 1 to December 1 it is publicly seeking comment from residents and officers on the department's reaccreditation — its first reaccreditation cycle under the Arizona Law Enforcement Accreditation Program. The Phoenix Police Department joined the program in 2021; the accrediting body is the Arizona Association of Chiefs of Police, and accreditation runs in four-year terms.
An assessment team will conduct an on-site review from December 1 to 3, 2026, covering policies, procedures, management practices, operations and support services. Residents and officers may submit comments through the community feedback form published by the assessment team. The department said it participates in accreditation to strengthen operations, increase transparency and be accountable to the community.
Whether reaccreditation is granted will rest on the on-site review's examination of policy implementation and day-to-day management — and the period before the December review is the window for residents to make their views heard.
