Minnesota Enters Final 48 Hours With Governor's Office and Senate Seat at Stake

On November 1, Minnesota entered the final 48 hours before the November 3 general election, in which the governor's office, a U.S. Senate seat and control of the state legislature will all be decided. In the governor's race, Democrat Amy Klobuchar faces Republican Lisa Demuth for the seat being vacated by departing Gov. Tim Walz. In the Senate race, Democrat Peggy Flanagan faces Republican Michele Tafoya for the seat of retiring Sen. Tina Smith. Every seat in the state legislature is also on the ballot.
Election officials reported that 948,465 absentee and mail ballots have been issued, with more than 200,000 still outstanding. Residents who have not yet voted could vote early in person at designated local election offices on Sunday, November 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; early voting continues on November 2 until 5 p.m., and on Election Day, November 3, polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. The issues on voters' minds include public spending, fraud oversight, the economy, immigration and education.
