Lions Beat Vikings 19-15 to End Last Unbeaten Run: Gibbs Rushes for 153 Yards

The NFL's last unbeaten team of the season fell on November 1, as the Detroit Lions beat the Minnesota Vikings 19-15 at Ford Field in Detroit, handing Minnesota its first loss and preserving the 1972 Miami Dolphins' perfect championship season for another year.
Minnesota entered the game 6-0 as the league's only unbeaten team, having last lost on November 30, 2025, at Seattle. The Vikings fell to 6-1, while Detroit won its third straight game to improve to 5-2, including wins in its first two NFC North division games.
Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs led the way with 153 yards on 23 carries, including a tackle-breaking 30-yard touchdown run in the third quarter that put Detroit ahead, plus two catches for 15 yards. Detroit rushed for 230 yards as a team, with backup Sione Vaki adding 65 yards on 11 carries.
The decisive sequence came in the fourth quarter. Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to tight end T. J. Hockenson and a two-point conversion pass to Jordan Addison for a 15-12 lead midway through the quarter. Detroit answered with a 7-yard touchdown pass from Jared Goff to Jameson Williams with 4:35 left, and the defense held before the offense ran out the clock with an eight-play, 33-yard possession. Goff finished 18 of 25 for 176 yards with one touchdown and his first interception of the season; Murray was 17 of 29 for 210 yards with two touchdowns and one interception for Minnesota.
Detroit's win was clouded by injury: starting linebacker Jack Campbell went down early in the fourth quarter, was taken off the field on a stretcher, and the team said he was transported to a local hospital to be evaluated for a neck injury.
With Minnesota's loss, no NFL team remains unbeaten this season. The 1972 Miami Dolphins remain the league's only team to win a championship with a perfect record, and surviving members of that team traditionally toast each season once the last unbeaten team loses.
