Commanders Beat Eagles 27-10: Washington Scores 27 Unanswered Points as Philadelphia Drops Sixth Straight
The Washington Commanders scored 27 unanswered points to beat the Philadelphia Eagles 27-10 in the NFL's Sunday Night Football game on November 1 at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland, handing Philadelphia its sixth straight loss and dropping the Eagles to 2-6.
Philadelphia struck first. Jake Elliott opened the scoring with a 40-yard field goal, and after Andrew Mukuba forced a fumble by Chig Okonkwo, Saquon Barkley scored on a 3-yard wildcat touchdown run to give the Eagles a 10-0 first-quarter lead behind quarterback Tanner McKee.
Washington answered with field goals of 56 and 39 yards by Drew Stevens around an 11-play, 89-yard drive capped by Jayden Daniels' 8-yard touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs, taking a 13-10 halftime lead. Daniels stayed in the game after taking a hard hit from Nolan Smith late in the first half.
In the second half, a 53-yard connection from Daniels to Treylon Burks set up a 25-yard Stevens field goal for 16-10. Philadelphia's 15-play, 7-minute-35-second fourth-quarter drive ended with Elliott's 41-yard attempt hitting the upright, Stevens added a 42-yard field goal, and after Rasul Douglas intercepted McKee on fourth-and-25, Washington drove 37 yards in three plays for a touchdown and a two-point conversion to close out the 27-10 win.
Quarter scores: Washington 3, 10, 3, 11; Philadelphia 10, 0, 0, 0. The Eagles did not score after the first quarter, and the six-game skid is the franchise's longest since the 2012 season.
