The Orange County Board of Supervisors, in Orange County, California, acted on a series of items on October 27, according to a statement from Supervisor Katrina Foley's office, ratifying the Norte Fire local emergency proclamation and approving roughly $12.5 million in grant awards and applications.

The Board approved a habitat restoration grant agreement for Laguna Coast Wilderness Park: a $1.9 million grant from the California Wildlife Conservation Board plus $50,000 in county in-kind support, with the Laguna Canyon Foundation leading five years of restoration and 20 years of management across 71 acres.

Other approved funding included about $7 million in Proposition 36 behavioral-health grants, about $4 million in TEAM funding to electrify the landfill fleet, a Sheriff's Emergency Management Performance Grant, and a $1 million grant application targeting the South American palm weevil.

The Board also saw the Orange County Transportation Authority create a Coastal Rail Ad Hoc Committee, and received an updated Measure M2 forecast of $13.5 billion over 30 years. The Norte Fire emergency will be reviewed again on December 15, and every 60 days thereafter.
