Vermont Men's Soccer Edges Binghamton 1-0 to End Its 21-Game League Unbeaten Run in Regular-Season Finale

The University of Vermont men's soccer team, in Burlington, Chittenden County, Vermont, beat Binghamton University 1-0 at home on November 1 to close the regular season and end the visitors' 21-game conference unbeaten streak. Binghamton had gone 13-0-8 in America East play; despite the loss, it had already clinched the conference regular-season title and the top playoff seed.
Binghamton outshot Vermont 14-8 and came close to equalizing with a shot that hit the crossbar and landed near the goal line, but Vermont held on for the 1-0 win.
Vermont next faces UMBC on November 5, with the winner advancing to a November 8 semifinal at Binghamton against the Bearcats. The America East final is scheduled for November 14 or 15.
