49ers-Vikings Trade for Jauan Jennings Falls Through After Receiver Declines to Return
A trade between the San Francisco 49ers of San Francisco, California, and the Minnesota Vikings for wide receiver Jauan Jennings fell through on November 1. FOX Sports reporter Jay Glazer disclosed on the Sunday pregame show that the two teams had agreed to terms, but the deal was contingent on Jennings joining a FaceTime call with 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch and personally confirming he wanted to return. Jennings did not take the call and said he wants to stay in Minnesota.
Jennings spent six seasons with the 49ers before signing a one-year free-agent contract worth up to $13 million with the Vikings in the 2026 offseason; in five games this season he has four catches for 43 yards.
The 49ers had already brought back former players including wide receiver Deebo Samuel and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner this offseason and tried to add one more reunion, but this attempt failed. Jennings remains with the Vikings.
