Sunday, November 1, 2026 · Society · GSM News

A woman was shot and killed in the early hours of November 1 in Oak Park, a Chicago suburb in Cook County, Illinois. According to a Village of Oak Park statement, police responded at 12:29 a.m. to the 1100 block of Lyman Avenue and found a woman with multiple gunshot wounds; officers began life-saving measures until the Oak Park Fire Department arrived. She was taken to Loyola University Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

A preliminary review of doorbell camera footage showed an apparent argument between a man and a woman before the man pulled out a gun and fired multiple rounds. Investigators recovered about 29 shell casings at the scene.

As of the night of November 1, police had not released the identities of the victim or the shooter or described their relationship, but investigators believe the shooting was targeted rather than random. Oak Park police are asking anyone with information to come forward; the investigation is ongoing.
