Buccaneers Shut Out Falcons 16-0 with Zero Completed Passes, an NFL First in 52 Years

The Atlanta Falcons of Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia, lost 16-0 on the road to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on November 1, their second shutout loss of the season. Tampa Bay led 9-0 through three quarters on three field goals, then sealed the game in the fourth when Sean Tucker scored on a 1-yard run after an interception at the Atlanta 25. The Buccaneers did not complete a single pass all game, becoming the first team to win with zero completions since the New York Giants in 1974.
With starting quarterback Baker Mayfield injured last week, Tristan Wirfs made an emergency start for Tampa Bay. Wirfs ran for 22 yards, completed none of 12 passes and was sacked nine times, but the Buccaneers won with a ground game that produced more than 200 yards on 40 carries and a strong defensive effort. Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins threw for 137 yards with one interception, and running back Bijan Robinson was held to 43 rushing yards.
The win lifts Tampa Bay to 6-2, alone atop the NFC South. Atlanta fell to 3-5, its third loss in four games.
