Alabama Secretary of State Sets Out Absentee Deadlines: In Person by Close of Business Nov. 2, by Mail by Noon Nov. 3

Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen has reminded voters in the state that the deadlines for returning absentee ballots for the November 3 general election are near: ballots returned in person must reach county absentee election managers by close of business on Monday, November 2, the day before the election, while ballots returned by mail must be received no later than noon on Election Day, November 3.
The Secretary of State's office previously announced that mail-in absentee ballot applications had to be received by October 27, and the deadline to return an application in person was October 29. Under Alabama law, voters must have a qualifying reason to vote absentee and state it on the application, and voters must present a valid photo ID when voting at a polling place or requesting an absentee ballot. Absentee voting information and application forms are available at AlabamaVotes.gov.
Allen is Alabama's 54th Secretary of State and the state's chief elections official. On Tuesday, November 3, Alabama voters will elect federal, state and local officials, including the governor and a U.S. senator.
