Southwest Colorado Floods Again Just Over a Week Later: County Roads Closed, Evacuations Around Durango

Heavy rain flooded parts of southwest Colorado again on Sunday, November 1, the second flooding episode in just over a week. The National Weather Service office in Grand Junction called it "a particularly dangerous situation" in a flood warning set to run until 4:15 p.m. on Monday, November 2.
The La Plata County sheriff temporarily closed all county roads on Sunday afternoon, and by evening areas around Durango, Ignacio and Bayfield were under evacuation orders. Provisional U.S. Geological Survey data show the San Miguel River's flow near Placerville more than tripled on Sunday. The state says anyone who needs shelter can call 2-1-1.
