Sunday, November 1, 2026 · States · GSM News

President Donald Trump spoke to a crowd in Dubuque, Dubuque County, Iowa, on Sunday afternoon, November 1, campaigning for Republican Senate candidate Ashley Hinson and other Iowa Republicans and urging supporters to vote on November 3. He said that failing to defeat the opposition would invite a much bigger fight later, and that all he was asking was for people to get out and vote.

Before Trump took the stage, Iowa Republican Party Chairman Jeff Kaufmann focused on Election Day turnout, asking the crowd to promise to call or drive at least 10 people to the polls. Hinson, speaking before Trump's arrival, said her race will decide which party controls the U.S. Senate's agenda next year. According to state officials, more than 440,000 Iowans had voted early as of Friday morning, October 30.

On the Democratic side, supporters of gubernatorial candidate Rob Sand held an event on Sunday night with Democratic Governors Association chair Andy Beshear, the governor of Kentucky; Sand said the polls look good but have been wrong before and cannot be taken for granted. Democratic Senate candidate Josh Turek told a rally in his hometown of Council Bluffs that his race may be the closest on the entire Senate map and could come down to a few hundred or a few thousand votes. Iowa voters will elect a U.S. senator, a governor and other officials on November 3.
