Braves Claim Left-Hander Parker Off Waivers From Nationals on First Day of Free Agency

In Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia, the Atlanta Braves announced on November 2 that they had claimed left-handed pitcher Mitchell Parker off waivers from the Washington Nationals. The move came on the day Major League Baseball free agency officially opened, when clubs had to clean up their 40-man rosters by 5 p.m. Eastern.
Parker was part of Washington's rotation in 2025 before moving to the bullpen in 2026, where he posted a 6.58 ERA across 39.2 innings in 22 appearances. His season ended in early July with a Grade 3 UCL sprain, and he underwent internal brace surgery in late July; he is not expected back in the majors until around September 2027. The claim is a low-risk, future-oriented move, with the Braves supporting his rehabilitation in the meantime.
