Monday, November 2, 2026 · Weather · GSM News

Coastal San Diego County and Orange County, California, were under a National Weather Service beach hazards statement on November 2, in effect through 6 p.m. that evening. Forecasters predicted surf of 3 to 6 feet with dangerous rip currents and minor tidal overflow around the afternoon high tide at about 3:30 p.m.

Tides are expected to rise later in the week, reaching 7 feet as early as Thursday, November 5, in Orange County and Friday, November 6, in San Diego County, with high tides peaking at 7.5 to 7.8 feet over the weekend and into early next week. A separate beach hazards statement covers San Francisco, the coastal North Bay, the San Francisco Peninsula Coast, Northern Monterey Bay and Southern Monterey Bay and Big Sur through 8 p.m. on November 3, warning of sneaker waves and strong rip currents.

The National Weather Service advises staying out of the water during hazardous conditions, avoiding rocks, jetties and piers, never turning one's back on the ocean, and following local forecasts and lifeguard instructions.
