New Hampshire Mail Ballots: Clerks Accept Delivery From 3 to 5 p.m. on November 2, With Nothing Issued or Accepted After 5

Across New Hampshire, Monday, November 2, is the last day before the 2026 general election. Under the state election timeline compiled by the Secure Democracy Foundation, town and city clerks' offices must be open from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on November 2 to accept delivery of mail ballots; after 5 p.m., clerks can no longer issue or accept mail ballots at their offices, and voters who have not returned a ballot must vote in person on Election Day.
The U.S. Vote Foundation's New Hampshire election dates listing puts the deadline to request an absentee ballot by mail at noon on November 2 and the in-person request deadline at 5 p.m. that day; completed absentee ballots must be received by 5 p.m. on November 3 to be counted.
Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, when voters statewide will choose a U.S. senator, U.S. representatives, a governor and state legislators. New Hampshire has no early voting; eligible voters may vote by absentee ballot or register and vote at the polls. Municipalities may open polls as late as 11 a.m. and close as early as 7 p.m. Clerks may begin processing ballots two hours after polls open and no later than 1 p.m., and copies of the results must reach the secretary of state by 8 a.m. on November 4.
