Three Red Sox Win Gold Gloves: First for Durbin, Second Straight for Rafaela, Third Straight for Abreu

The Boston Red Sox had three reasons to celebrate on the night of November 1: third baseman Caleb Durbin, center fielder Ceddanne Rafaela and right fielder Wilyer Abreu each won a 2026 Gold Glove Award, making Boston the American League's biggest winner in defensive honors.
Durbin earned the first Gold Glove of his career in just his second major league season, becoming the first Red Sox third baseman to win the award since Frank Malzone in 1959. He finished tied for the American League lead at his position in both runs prevented (five) and outs above average (six).
Rafaela won for the second straight year, leading all of MLB with 10 five-star catches — plays with a 0-25% completion probability, per Statcast — and recording 17 outs above average.
Abreu won for the third straight season, having taken the award in each of his first three major league seasons. According to the Fielding Bible, his 28 defensive runs saved were the most of any player in MLB this season.
