Kentucky Rep. Suzanne Miles Named 2026 Power Partner by State's Electric Cooperatives

Monday, November 2, 2026 · States · GSM News

Kentucky Electric Cooperatives announced on November 2 in Owensboro, Daviess County, Kentucky, that state Rep. Suzanne Miles has received its 2026 Power Partner Award for her efforts in support of electric reliability and affordability.

Miles is the House Majority Caucus Chair — the first woman to hold the post, re-elected to it every term since 2018 — and first took office in 2014. Many of her 7th House District constituents in Daviess County are consumer-members of Kenergy, an electric cooperative serving more than 60,000 homes and businesses in 14 counties. Miles serves on the House Natural Resources and Energy Committee and the statewide Energy Planning and Inventory Commission, and is a founding member of the Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative Caucus, which has grown into the largest caucus in the General Assembly; during the 2026 Regular Session she championed several bills of importance to the state's electric cooperatives.

Association president Chris Perry said Miles is a long-standing advocate for co-op consumer-members who understands co-op values and priorities. Miles said she is honored by the award, that Kentucky needs a strong, dependable energy supply, and that she couples support for coal with openness to nuclear energy development.
