Democrats Cast 51% of New Mexico Early Votes While Unaffiliated Voters Cast Just 16%; Election Day Polls Run 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Early voting data released November 2 by the New Mexico Secretary of State's Office shows registered Democrats cast 51% of the early and absentee ballots statewide, though they make up only 40% of registered voters. Republicans, 30% of registered voters, cast 31% of early ballots, while unaffiliated 'Decline to State' voters, 28% of registrants, cast just 16%.
The four largest counties — Bernalillo, Doña Ana, Santa Fe and Sandoval — accounted for 67.4% of all pre-Election Day ballots, and Democrats cast 92,889 more ballots than Republicans in those four counties alone, nearly the entire statewide Democratic lead of 93,836. The other 29 counties cast 148,891 ballots and were nearly tied: 63,903 Democratic to 62,956 Republican, a gap of 947. Unaffiliated voters' Election Day choices are set to be a key variable.
On Election Day, November 3, polls in every county are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and voters in line at 7 p.m. may still vote; polling places can be found through the Secretary of State's nmvote.gov site.
