New York Early Voting Reaches 1,965,043, Up 67% From the 2022 Midterms

Unofficial figures released November 2 by the New York State Board of Elections show 1,965,043 early ballots cast over the nine-day early voting period, nearly 2 million and about 67% more than the 1,178,676 cast in the 2022 midterms. Voters outside New York City and Long Island accounted for about 46% of the early turnout. Alison McLean Lane, the Democratic commissioner of the Albany County Board of Elections, said the voters she has spoken to are, in a word, motivated.
Early voting ran from October 24 to November 1, covering in-person early voting and mail ballots. In the governor's race, Democratic incumbent Kathy Hochul is seeking reelection against Republican nominee Bruce Blakeman, the Nassau County executive; Siena College's final poll, released October 28, put Hochul ahead 54% to 40%. Both candidates made a final push on November 2, with Blakeman setting out on a multi-city statewide tour.
Election Day is November 3, with polls open statewide from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
