Two Piggly Wiggly Stores Change Hands: Fox Bros. to Buy De Pere and Kaukauna Stores Effective January 31, 2027

Fox Bros. Piggly Wiggly, an employee-owned grocer based in Hartland, Wisconsin, announced on November 2 that it has agreed to buy two Piggly Wiggly stores from Stoneridge Meat and Country Market: the store at 575 Swan Road in De Pere, Brown County, and the store at 300 E. Ann Street in Kaukauna, Outagamie County, effective January 31, 2027.
Fox Bros. is 100% employee-owned through an employee stock ownership plan that will be open to employees of the two northeastern Wisconsin stores. Stoneridge has owned the De Pere store since August 2017 and the Kaukauna store since January 2018; less than a month ago it announced it would close its Little Chute Piggly Wiggly on November 7. Stoneridge President Duane Detjens said in a news release that the moves give the Wautoma-based company more time to focus on its wholesale division, which produces snack sticks, sausages and other items.
Fox Bros. President Mike Olwig said the company will introduce new features at the two stores in 2027, including its own brats and sausages, a spirits program and special sales. Pat and Bob Fox founded the company in 1988 with a first store in Hartland and added a second in Oconomowoc in 1997; it now operates 11 stores in southeastern Wisconsin.
