San Francisco Affordable Housing Group HomeRise Names Ancel Romero CEO to Lead Resident-First Wind-Down

Monday, November 2, 2026 · Society · GSM News

In San Francisco, San Francisco County, California, the board of affordable housing nonprofit HomeRise announced on November 2 that it has appointed Ancel Romero as chief executive officer to lead the orderly, resident-first wind-down the organization announced on October 1.

Romero is a former HomeRise board member with more than two decades leading affordable housing property management. He founded the Ancel Romero Management & Consulting Group and previously served as president of HumanGood Affordable Housing, one of the largest nonprofit affordable housing providers in the San Francisco Bay Area. He succeeds Tim Daniels, who has served as interim CEO since July and is working closely with Romero on the handoff.

Board president Don Falk said that when the resident-centered wind-down was announced, the board committed to finding a leader built for this work, and that Romero knows affordable housing operations and HomeRise. Romero said his job is to make sure every building moves to a financially strong, mission-aligned operator and every resident stays home.

HomeRise said the wind-down continues in partnership with the City and County of San Francisco, and that residents will stay in their homes, with leases, rental assistance and services continuing.
