SUNY ESF Named to 2027 Mental Health Services Honor Roll: One of Only 76 Institutions Nationwide
The SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) announced on November 2, 2026, in Syracuse, Onondaga County, New York, that it has been named to The Princeton Review's 2027 Mental Health Services Honor Roll, a national distinction recognizing colleges and universities that demonstrate an exceptional commitment to student mental health, counseling services and overall well-being. ESF is one of just 76 institutions nationwide on the 2027 Honor Roll and one of only five SUNY campuses recognized this year.
ESF said the recognition spotlights its Counseling Center, which provides confidential counseling, crisis intervention, mental health education, outreach programming, consultation services and referrals to help students navigate personal, emotional and academic challenges. In addition to on-campus services, ESF students have access to TimelyCare, a 24/7 virtual health and well-being platform offering around-the-clock mental health support and on-demand wellness resources.
Erica Allen, ESF's director of counseling, said the honor reflects the trust students place in the college and the counseling team's dedication to compassionate, evidence-based care, and that the college strives to make mental health support accessible and available whenever students need it through both the Counseling Center and TimelyCare.
ESF President Joanie Mahoney said supporting mental health is essential to student success and congratulated the other recognized SUNY institutions: Farmingdale State College, the University at Albany, Stony Brook University and SUNY Geneseo. ESF is one of the nation's premier colleges focused on the study of the environment, with a community of more than 2,000 scholars, a campus alongside Syracuse University in Central New York, and a system of properties spanning 25,000 acres across New York state.
