Border Patrol Agents Seize More Than 300 Pounds of Methamphetamine on Interstate 5 in California

Monday, November 2, 2026 · Federal · GSM News

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced on November 2 that Border Patrol agents assigned to the San Diego Sector seized more than 300 pounds of methamphetamine during a vehicle stop on Interstate 5 near Camp Pendleton at 3:25 p.m. on October 22. The stop took place along the I-5 corridor near San Clemente, in Orange County, California.

CBP said the drugs were found and seized during a search of the vehicle. The release summary did not provide the driver's identity, an estimated street value or further case details.

The San Diego Sector is responsible for roughly 60 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border beginning at Imperial Beach, as well as inland enforcement along corridors such as Interstate 5, where the San Clemente checkpoint area has repeatedly produced large narcotics seizures.
