Follow-Up: San Bernardino County Sheriff's Operation Consequences Nets 6 Firearms and 13 Felony Arrests in Latest Week

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, in San Bernardino County, California, reported on November 2 the latest weekly results of Operation Consequences, its targeted crime-suppression effort, covering October 26 through November 1: deputies and investigators served nine search warrants across the county, seized six firearms, two of them ghost guns, and made 13 felony arrests.
According to the department, investigators from its Gangs/Narcotics Division, together with deputies from patrol stations and personnel from partnering agencies, served the warrants and contacted suspects in Colton, Ontario, San Bernardino, Rancho Cucamonga, Adelanto and Hesperia. The San Bernardino Movement Against Street Hoodlums (SMASH) Street Enforcement Team also conducted proactive patrols in San Bernardino and the surrounding area. Over the week, investigators contacted gang members and people prohibited from possessing firearms, and seized the firearms during their investigations.
The department said the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors has authorized funds for county-wide crime suppression, providing additional funding to the Sheriff's Department for law enforcement services addressing quality-of-life issues in county communities. Operation Consequences focuses on the High Desert and the Sheriff's jurisdiction surrounding the city of San Bernardino, with personnel from the Gangs/Narcotics Division, the Specialized Enforcement Division and patrol stations, alongside the California Highway Patrol, the San Bernardino Police Department, San Bernardino County Probation and Homeland Security Investigations.
The operation will take place over the next several months to curb violent crime, disrupt and dismantle targeted criminal street gangs, and locate and arrest criminals illegally possessing, manufacturing and trafficking firearms, the department said. The release, issued under Sheriff-Coroner Shannon D. Dicus, lists the department's Public Affairs Division as the contact, at (909) 387-3700.
