Putin Holds Phone Call With Iran's Security Chief Rezaei on Middle East Situation and Strategic Partnership

Monday, November 2, 2026 · World · GSM News

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation on November 2 with Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, to discuss regional and international affairs, particularly developments in the Middle East, Iran's Tasnim News Agency reported. The two sides stressed the need to continue the Russia-Iran strategic partnership on the basis of an action plan developed by the two countries' top leadership, and the Iranian side thanked Russia for its support of the Iranian people's steadfastness.

The call formed part of a series of recent high-level consultations between the two countries. It came as United States-Iran talks over the nuclear issue and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz continued, amid concern over a possible resumption of United States military strikes on Iran after the midterm elections. Iran said the same day that the United States' reply to its conditions was "not convincing" and that the strait would reopen only once those conditions were answered clearly and implemented.
