Mimaki is an internationally acclaimed pianist and first-prize winner of several international piano competitions. Xiao, a graduate of the Sichuan Conservatory of Music who now lives in Houston, has long promoted Chinese art and culture across the greater Houston area, and Koh is known for his expressive erhu playing.
Admission is through donation sponsorship. The official event page lists several sponsorship levels, ranging from $500, which includes one ticket, up to $32,500, which includes ten tickets; supporters may also choose to donate without taking tickets. Registration and donations are handled through the event page on Tzu Chi USA's official website.
Based in Houston, the Texas Chapter serves as the headquarters of Tzu Chi USA's Southern Region and has served communities in Texas and across the southern United States since 1991. Tzu Chi was founded by Dharma Master Cheng Yen in Hualien, Taiwan, in 1966, and Tzu Chi USA was established in 1989. The chapter says donations raised through the annual concert will support the continuation of Tzu Chi's charitable services in the local community.
