Chinese Artist Xin Ni's Solo Exhibition Opens November 5 in Towson

A Baltimore arts roundup published November 3 listed the week's picks, including Right and Wrong Undone, a solo exhibition by Chinese artist Xin Ni that opens with a reception and performance on November 5 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Bond Gallery of Goucher College in Towson, Baltimore County, Maryland; the show runs through January 22, 2027. At the center of the exhibition is a set of brightly colored, translucent plastic installations inspired by objects connected with Chinese funeral traditions; folded away at first, the materials open into lantern-like forms suspended from the gallery ceiling, turning the room into a shifting space of light and color.
Organizers say Ni's work explores what happens when objects, gestures and cultural meanings move between contexts: interpretation systems people take for granted begin to loosen, and an object with clear cultural associations in one setting can become unfamiliar, decorative or hard to read in another. The exhibition is presented by the Goucher galleries and is free and open to the public. The gallery said the opening-night performance will echo the installation, letting visitors experience the interplay of material, light and space as they move through the show, with tours and related programs planned during the run.
