Killington and Pico Near Completion of Major Offseason Projects Ahead of Ski Season

Killington, Rutland County, Vermont — Killington Resort and Pico Mountain shared an update on November 3 on their pre-season construction, with several major offseason projects at both ski areas nearing completion. At Killington, the season's biggest project — replacing the old Snowdon triple chairlift with a new fixed-grip quad — is nearly finished.
At Pico, a new rope tow is being installed for the Outpost terrain pod; with the old chairlift retired, the tow will carry skiers to the outpost terrain. Both resorts have also upgraded their snowmaking systems, with a notable boost to snowmaking capacity on Killington's Conclusion trail, along with updated trail signage, lift refurbishments and summer attraction upgrades.
A warm front means Killington's opening is expected to wait a few more days, while Pico's projected opening date is December 11. The resorts said they plan to invest $200 million in upgrades over the next 10 to 15 years, including continued modernization of the K-1 gondola, a Pico Outpost quad chairlift and the Needle's Eye lodge.
