Connecticut Election Day: Gov. Lamont Seeks a Third Term After Nearly 506,000 Early Ballots

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · States · GSM News

Connecticut polls were open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on November 3 across all 169 towns, with all six constitutional offices, five U.S. House seats and all 187 General Assembly seats on the ballot. The marquee race was for governor: Democratic incumbent Ned Lamont sought a third term against Republican state Sen. Ryan Fazio of Greenwich. Lamont planned to vote at Greenwich High School in the morning before heading to an election-night event at Dunkin Park in Hartford; Fazio voted on October 19, the first day of early voting. The Secretary of the State reported on November 2 that 505,973 ballots had already been cast, including 455,169 in-person early ballots and 50,804 absentee ballots, about 23% of the state's 2.22 million eligible voters. This was Connecticut's second statewide early in-person voting period and its first no-excuse absentee election, and observers were watching whether turnout would beat the 57.62% of the 2022 midterms. Democrats entered the day holding the state House 102-49 and the Senate 25-11, and neither party expected a major shift.
