Flooding Moves 25 Polling Places in 7 Florida Counties on Election Day: Brevard Voters Told to Check New Sites

MELBOURNE, Florida — Floods and storms have forced last-minute polling-place changes in Florida on Election Day, with 25 polling-place changes across seven counties, according to the Florida Division of Elections list released Monday night. Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order 26-227 on November 2, declaring a state of emergency in Brevard, DeSoto, Hardee, Highlands, Indian River, Martin and St. Lucie counties. Polls in Florida are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3.
Brevard County Supervisor of Elections Tim Bobanic announced on Monday that, due to extreme flooding conditions, the county would temporarily relocate a limited number of precinct polling locations. "For the safety and security of our election workers and the voters of Brevard, it is necessary to relocate a couple of precinct polling locations due to these unprecedented circumstances," Bobanic said in the memo. The relocations are: Precincts 307, 512 and 525, from Max K. Rodes Park Community Center to New Shiloh Christian Center, 3900 Sarno Road, Melbourne; Precinct 309, from the Veterans Memorial Complex to the same New Shiloh site; Precinct 306, from the Eddie Lee Taylor Sr. Community Center, and Precincts 323 and 509, from the Front Street Civic Center, to Joseph N. Davis Community Center, 2547 Bruce D. Buggs Street, Melbourne; Precinct 320, from EFSC Palm Bay - Community Dining Room to Franklin T. DeGroodt Memorial Library, 6475 Minton Road SE, Palm Bay; and Precinct 517, from Faith Baptist Church of Palm Bay to Palm Bay City Hall Council Chambers, 120 Malabar Road SE, Palm Bay. The memo said there may be additional changes and directed voters to VoteBrevard.gov for updates.
The state list also shows Martin County voters assigned to Grace Presbyterian Church in Stuart now voting at the Martin County Supervisor of Elections Office. The Florida Department of State urged voters to verify their assigned locations before setting out.
