Rubio Congratulates Dominica on 48th Independence Day: Energy Security and Anti-Crime Cooperation

The U.S. Department of State on November 3 released a statement by Secretary of State Marco Rubio congratulating the people and government of Dominica as they celebrate their 48th Independence Day. Dominica is a Caribbean island country with its capital at Roseau; it gained independence from Britain in 1978, and November 3 is its national day.
In the statement, Rubio said it was his pleasure, on behalf of the American people, to send warm greetings and congratulations to the people and government of Dominica. The United States is proud to count Dominica as a valued friend, he said.
The statement said the two countries' cooperation on energy security is helping build a better future for both countries, and that they are working side by side to counter smuggling, trafficking, and transnational criminal networks across the Caribbean. It also saw great promise in growing business ties between the two countries, especially in critical infrastructure.
Rubio wished all Dominicans a happy Independence Day and a festive celebration, and said the United States looks forward to deepening the partnership in the year ahead.
