Irvine Annual Holiday Toy Drive Underway: New, Unwrapped Gifts Accepted Through December 12 for Marine Families
Irvine, a city in Orange County, California — The City of Irvine announced on November 3 that its annual Holiday Toy Drive is underway. The city and the Irvine 2/11 Marine Adoption Committee invite the community to donate new, unwrapped gifts suitable for infants and children ages 12 and younger, bringing holiday warmth to the families of Irvine's adopted 2nd Battalion, 11th Marines (2/11 Marines). Drop-off boxes at select city facilities are accepting donations through December 12.
The City Hall and Police Department drop-off is at 1 Civic Center Plaza, open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Great Park Visitors Center, at 8000 Great Park Blvd., is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Three libraries also host drop-off boxes: Heritage Park Library (14361 Yale Ave.), Katie Wheeler Library (13109 Old Myford Road) and University Park Library (4512 Sandburg Way), each open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Portola Springs Community Center (900 Tomato Springs), Turtle Rock Community Center (1 Sunnyhill Drive) and Woodbury Community Center (130 Sanctuary) are also accepting donations; contact each site directly for hours.
Two drive-thru drop-off events will also be held at the Irvine Civic Center, on Sunday, December 6, and Saturday, December 12, from 9 a.m. to noon, in the parking lot near Deanna Manning Stadium. Participants should keep donations in the trunk or backseat and remain in their vehicles; staff will retrieve the toys directly from vehicles in the designated drop-off area.
