TikTok Creator Who Wished to Live Long Enough to Play GTA 6 Dies at 25, Three Weeks Before Launch

On November 2, Jerry Fort's family posted a video to his own TikTok account announcing that the 25-year-old creator, known online as "Void Only," had died on October 29. Three months earlier, a line he spoke from an intensive care bed — "I just want to play GTA VI" — had moved millions of viewers. The game is scheduled to launch on November 19, exactly three weeks after his death.
On August 8, Fort posted a video from his hospital bed captioned: "I just want to play GTA VI. Rockstar and their delays, man." Within days the clip had picked up millions of views, fan accounts shared it widely on X, and outlets in countries from France and Germany to Japan and Brazil covered his story. In his videos he said his lungs "can't do it no more" and that he was "at the end of my ropes," while still saying he believed his doctors and planned to stream GTA 6 once he recovered.
Fort had lived with interstitial lung disease since he was 17. His mother, Paris Fort, set up a GoFundMe campaign from Jacksonville, Florida, titled "Help my son reach his lung transplant," with an initial goal of $15,000. PEOPLE reported in August that the campaign had passed $92,000; as of November 3, the page showed more than $101,000 raised from over 5,000 donors, more than six times the original target.
According to the family's November 2 video, a severe infection weeks earlier had left his lungs filling with blood, and he had been placed on ECMO, a machine that takes over the work of the heart and lungs. On October 28 he told his family he was ready to stop fighting; by the next morning a new infection had set in and his organs were shutting down. "He was at peace," the family said. Reports differ on whether he received a lung transplant before his death: GTADB, citing Dexerto, reported that he underwent a transplant in September and later deteriorated following infections, while TalkEsport noted that accounts of the transplant differ between reports.
After the announcement, his name trended on X on the evening of November 2, and members of the gaming community shared tributes: some said they would dedicate their first journey through the game's state of Leonida to him, and others suggested adding "Void" to their usernames in his memory. Many fans have called on developer Rockstar Games to honour him in GTA 6; as of publication, neither Rockstar nor its parent company Take-Two Interactive had commented publicly, and no tribute had been announced. His family thanked his followers in the video for making his last few months beautiful.
