Hallmark Store to Close After 21 Years at San Bruno's Tanforan as Mall Heads for Biotech Redevelopment

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 · California · GSM News

Steve's Hallmark Gold Crown, the card and gift store inside The Shops at Tanforan in San Bruno, California, has announced it will close in January 2027 after 21 years, with a farewell closing sale already under way and the exact date still to be set.

The store said customers can continue shopping at the Hillsdale location in San Mateo or online. The shop has been a longtime tenant of the Tanforan mall.

The 44-acre Tanforan property is slated for redevelopment by owner Alexandria Real Estate Equities into roughly 2 million square feet of life-science and office space with more than 1,000 homes, while keeping the Target store and Century theatre. The project's final environmental impact report was published in October 2026; the redevelopment has not yet been approved.
