San Diego Registrar Lays Out Results Schedule: First Numbers After 8 p.m., Certification by December 3

The San Diego County Registrar of Voters in California has published its ballot-counting and results schedule for the general election: the first unofficial election-night results will be posted shortly after polls close at 8 p.m., and by law the results must be certified by December 3. All results remain unofficial until certification is complete.
The Registrar sent ballots to more than 2 million voters. The first election-night update includes mail ballots received before Election Day and ballots cast at vote centers through November 2. After vote centers close at 8 p.m., reporting will pause briefly while poll workers secure and transport ballots from over 200 vote centers to the Registrar's office. Later election-night updates will include only ballots cast at vote centers on Election Day, with no additional mail ballots; final unofficial election-night results may be posted around 1 a.m. or later.
After election night, the Registrar will post additional unofficial results on Thursday, November 5, Friday, November 6, and Monday, November 9, each by 6 p.m., with any further updates at the Registrar's discretion. The Registrar's office will be closed on November 11, 26 and 27 for county holidays.
Mail ballots postmarked by Election Day, November 3, and received within seven days will be counted, and all mail ballots must pass signature verification before counting. Residents who missed the registration deadline could cast a provisional ballot through 8 p.m. on Election Day, subject to eligibility verification. Updates are posted on sdvote.com, and voters can call (858) 565-5800 or toll free (800) 696-0136 for information.
