[Video] Biopic 'Jimmy' Opens Nationwide November 6: KJ Apa Plays Stewart From Oscar Winner to WWII Pilot
The biopic 'Jimmy' opens nationwide in the United States on November 6 through Fathom Entertainment. Directed by Aaron Burns from a screenplay by Justin Strawhand, the film stars KJ Apa as Hollywood legend James Stewart and concentrates on the most transformative years of his life. Burns & Co. has released the film's final trailer, carried with this story.
The film follows Stewart from his Academy Award win for 'The Philadelphia Story' to his enlistment in the U.S. Army Air Corps in March 1941, his 20 combat missions over Europe and his rise to colonel. He returned home disheartened, until the role of George Bailey in 'It's a Wonderful Life' restored him. Stewart's daughter, Kelly Stewart-Harcourt, serves as an executive producer.
The supporting cast includes Max Casella as director Frank Capra, Jason Alexander as MGM chief Louis B. Mayer, and Kara Killmer, Neal McDonough, Rob Riggle, Christopher McDonald, Sarah Drew and Jen Lilley as Stewart's wife, Gloria.
In opening week, CBS 'Sunday Morning' aired a segment on the film on November 1, with Lee Cowan speaking to Apa, Casella and Stewart-Harcourt about what Stewart's service did to him.
