The Dallas Stars held off the Washington Capitals 6-5 at Capital One Arena on November 3, improving to 9-5-1 and winning for the ninth time in their last 10 meetings with Washington.
Jason Robertson recorded a natural hat trick in the first 5:43 of the second period, scoring at 0:23 on the power play, 3:18 and 5:43. The three goals came in a span of 5:20, the third-fastest hat trick in franchise history. It was the seventh hat trick of Robertson's career, and he added an assist.
Mikko Rantanen scored to reach 800 career points, and Roope Hintz had a goal and two assists, including the deflection at 1:23 of the third period that stood as the game-winner.
Washington rallied late, with Ryan Leonard cutting the margin to 6-5 at 18:58 after starter Logan Thompson had been pulled, but the Capitals could not find the equalizer.
