CPSC Warns Against About 51,825 JZA-540COM Combination Alarms: They May Fail to Sound in a Fire, and the Seller Has Not Answered the Recall Request

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a product safety warning (No. 27-052) on October 29: combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, model JZA-540COM, sold under the JuzhiAnn, Yfwsrecinoe and JAEHSKA brand names, can fail to alarm in the presence of hazardous smoke and fire, posing a risk of serious injury or death, and consumers should stop using them immediately.
The white alarms, which have a digital display and were sold singly or in multipacks, were offered on Amazon and eBay from November 2023 through October 2026 for about $11 to $107, covering about 51,825 units. The CPSC has received seven reports of the alarms failing to sound during smoke or fire; no injuries or deaths have been reported.
The seller is Shenzhen Laijinhe Trading Co., Ltd., of China, doing business as Yfwsrecinoe US. The CPSC said the company has been unresponsive to its request to recall the products, which is why the action comes as a warning rather than a recall, with no refund program.
The CPSC urges consumers to stop using the alarms, dispose of them, and not sell or give them away, and to install working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms that meet the UL 217 and UL 2034 safety standards.
The same day, the CPSC issued a similar warning for another combination model, the YHW-542COM-R, sold under the GuardianSense and KLTseanife brands online from September 2025 through June 2026, with two failure reports and the same disposal advice.
