Once Upon a Farm Recalls All Tractor Wheels Toddler Soft-Baked Bars: Choking Risk for Toddlers Aged 1.5 to 2.5

Wednesday, November 4, 2026 · Shopping · GSM News

Once Upon a Farm, based in Berkeley, California, is recalling all lots and varieties of its Tractor Wheels Organic Toddler Soft-Baked Bars. The company announced the recall on October 30, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published the recall notice on November 2.

The bars are being recalled because their composition can rapidly hydrate on contact with saliva during chewing, forming a dense, dry and sticky mass that poses a choking hazard for toddlers aged 1.5 to 2.5 years. In a separate consumer advisory, the FDA said it had received several reports describing toddlers suffering complete airway obstruction and an inability to breathe after eating the product, warning that standard interventions such as back blows and the Heimlich maneuver may fail to dislodge the mass, and that some incidents required emergency response and hospital observation.

The company said its decision was based on three consumer complaints of choking reported to the FDA, and that no injuries had been reported as of the announcement. It said it is working with the FDA to remove the products while it reformulates the snack, and that no other Once Upon a Farm products are affected.

The recall covers sales nationwide and in Puerto Rico, in stores including Costco, Target and Walmart and online. Every lot code is included, including expired products consumers may still have at home; unexpired products carry best-if-used-by dates from October 30, 2026, through August 26, 2027.

Principal UPCs include Strawberry, Pumpkin & Beet in the 5-count size, 81000351261, and 10-count, 810003512932; Apple, Sweet Potato & Spinach in the 5-count, 81000351260, and 10-count, 810003512840; and Banana, Pumpkin & Cauliflower in the 5-count, 81000351262. Twenty- and 30-count variety packs and online-only sampler packs containing the bars are also included.

Consumers should not open or eat the product. It can be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund. Questions can go to the company at 1-888-983-1606 or [email protected].
