DOC NYC Opens November 11 With More Than 200 Films, Online Screenings Through November 29

The 17th edition of DOC NYC, America's largest documentary film festival, opens on November 11, 2026, in New York City, New York, with in-person screenings through November 19 at IFC Center, SVA Theatre and Village East by Angelika, and online screenings continuing across the United States through November 29. This year's festival showcases more than 200 films and dozens of events, with filmmakers expected in person at most screenings.
Opening the festival on November 11 at SVA Theatre is the U.S. premiere of The Hummingbird Paints Fragrant Songs, co-directed by Èlia Gasull Balada and Matteo Norzi, about Shipibo artist Sara Flores of the Peruvian Amazon, whose sacred intricate geometries, revealed through visions, carry Indigenous knowledge into museums worldwide as she defends her people and their territory.
Closing the festival on November 19, also at SVA Theatre, is the U.S. premiere of Totality, directed by Kate Davis and David Heilbroner, about the 2024 total solar eclipse that swept across North America and the communities that gathered to look up together. The Centerpiece screening is the November 13 NYC premiere of Union Town at SVA Theatre, directed by two-time Academy Award winner Barbara Kopple, following three groups of New York workers and their union struggles.
The festival's Main Slate presents more than 115 feature-length documentaries, including 26 world premieres and 27 U.S. premieres. The full lineup, schedule and ticket information are on the festival's official site, docnyc.net. (Source: DOC NYC)
