Chinese Man Wanted by the UAE Over Dubai Triple Murder Arrested in Thailand's Nong Khai, Immigration Bureau Announces on November 4

Nong Khai — Thailand's Immigration Bureau announced on November 4, during a review of major cases, that Wan Chuanxin, a 29-year-old Chinese national wanted by the United Arab Emirates over the killing of three people in Dubai, was detained in Thailand's northeastern Nong Khai province on October 6. The bureau is preparing to coordinate his transfer to the UAE, where he is expected to face legal proceedings over the alleged Dubai killings.
Police said Wan was travelling by long-tail boat across the Mekong River from Laos when Nong Khai immigration officers and a ranger task force apprehended him as he came ashore in Phon Phisai district, outside an official border checkpoint. Officers said they found a bag containing about five kilograms of white powder in his possession, identified as etomidate, a Category 2 psychotropic substance under Thai law. He was initially charged in Thailand with entering the country without permission and possessing the substance.
Thai investigators said the UAE had issued an arrest warrant alleging that Wan acted with others in the killing of three people in Dubai in June 2026. The case had already produced arrests in Thailand: on October 20, immigration police detained two Chinese men, identified only as Mr Chen, 30, and Mr Yang, 28, at condominiums in Bangkok's Chidlom and Silom areas. Both were subjects of Interpol Red Notices over the same Dubai case. Thai police said a Turkish businessman, his Chinese girlfriend and their Bangladeshi driver were abducted from a luxury villa in Dubai in June by a group of seven people, and the three bodies were later found buried in the desert; the motive has not yet been confirmed.
The allegations against Wan remain to be tested in court. The Thai charges of illegal entry and drug possession will be handled first, and the Immigration Bureau will coordinate any transfer with the UAE authorities. (Source: Thailand Immigration Bureau)
