First 'Magnolia Cup' Talk Show and Halloween Creative Arts Gala Held in San Gabriel
The first 'Magnolia Cup' talk show and Halloween creative arts gala, co-hosted by the Los Angeles Taishan Culture and Sports Association and Da Xi Drama Society and title-sponsored by Xin Neng Liang, was recently held in Southern California. The event blended stand-up comedy, Halloween costume creativity, stage runway walks and a variety of performing arts, drawing arts figures, community art lovers and performers from across Southern California for a distinctive community celebration. The organizers said it was not only a joyful Halloween party and a comedy contest, but also an effort to pool community arts resources, explore cross-disciplinary collaboration and develop new formats for cultural events.
It was the first collaboration between the Los Angeles Taishan Culture and Sports Association and Da Xi Drama Society, pairing stand-up comedy — a contemporary, interactive form — with the association's 2026 arts showcase to create a new model for community arts events. Association president Li Yifei and the judges attended, along with many Southern California arts figures who came to show support.
With the first edition concluded, preparations for the next are under way. The organizers said the second 'Magnolia Cup' in 2027 will take amateur singing as its theme, offering a professional stage for community members who love music; video auditions are planned to open in January 2027, with finals in March, and details to be announced by the organizers.
