Atlanta Braves Retain Entire Coaching Staff as Weiss Seeks Stability in Season Two

The Atlanta Braves, of Atlanta in Fulton County, Georgia, confirmed on November 4 that the team will retain its entire coaching staff, with manager Walt Weiss leading the same group into his second season. The decision was disclosed by a team source to reporters, as the club seeks stability heading into the new season. Weiss took over after Brian Snitker retired following the 2025 season, and in his first season the Braves won the National League East but were eliminated in the Division Series.
The biggest holdover is hitting coach Tim Hyers. The Braves finished 2026 with the eighth-most runs scored in the majors, but had the third-worst walk rate and ranked 20th in weighted runs created, making offensive inconsistency the main issue to fix. Bench coach Tony Mansolino, pitching coach Jeremy Hefner and assistant hitting coach Darnell Coles also return, as do first base coach Antoan Richardson and third base coach Tommy Watkins, both new additions in 2026.
The Braves have already made a front-office change this offseason, hiring former Houston Astros general manager Dana Brown as a senior adviser for amateur scouting. Keeping the coaching staff intact signals that management sees the first season's problems as matters of execution rather than personnel.
