Eagles Switch Quarterbacks: Milton Takes Over From McKee to Start Against the Giants

Wednesday, November 4, 2026 · Sports · GSM News

ESPN reported on November 4 that the Philadelphia Eagles, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, will switch starting quarterbacks: Joe Milton III will overtake Tanner McKee as the starter for the November 8 home game against the New York Giants. The Eagles have lost six straight, and a floundering offense is the direct reason for the change.

McKee had filled in as the starter since Week 6, when Jalen Hurts was sidelined by blood clots, and lost all three of his starts. In the last game, a 27-10 loss to the Washington Commanders, McKee completed 23 of 32 passes for 212 yards with one interception. Hurts' blood clots have traveled to both of his lungs, and he is likely out for the season. Head coach Nick Sirianni insisted just two days earlier that he would not make a change at quarterback.

Milton joined the Eagles on October 16 from the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad and has never started an NFL game; his most extensive work came in Week 18 of the 2024 season for the New England Patriots, when he threw for 241 yards on 22-of-29 passing. The Eagles rank last in the league in yards per game at 265.3 and score 17.1 points per game. The team hopes the switch ends the six-game skid at home.
