The Holy War rivalry between the University of Utah, in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah, and Brigham Young University will be renewed on November 7. According to an Associated Press report on November 4, Saturday's game in Salt Lake City makes history: both teams are ranked in the national Top 10 going into the game for the first time in the storied rivalry's history.

No. 3 Utah is 8-0 overall and 5-0 in the Big 12, and sits No. 3 in the College Football Playoff rankings. No. 7 BYU is 7-1, 5-1 in the Big 12, and No. 9 in the CFP rankings. Many past editions of the Holy War have decided conference championships, and this game could again carry playoff implications.

Utah is seeking to snap a three-game losing streak in the series, having lost those games by an average of only 4.3 points, while BYU has rallied from fourth-quarter deficits to win in back-to-back seasons since Utah joined the Big 12 in 2024. The AP notes that what began as an intense regional showdown has evolved into one of the top rivalries in the FBS, drawing interest from fans far beyond Utah.
