20th Lone Star Film Festival Opens in Fort Worth With More Than 70 Short Films

The 20th Lone Star Film Festival opened on November 4 in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, and runs through November 13 at multiple Fort Worth venues. Organized by the Fort Worth Film Commission, the festival marks its 20th anniversary with more than 70 short films alongside notable feature presentations, including musical comedies and the award-winning documentary Rehearsals for a Revolution, bridging local audiences with emerging filmmakers worldwide. Technical director and programmer Anderson William noted that surviving past the five-year mark in a volatile industry is a rare achievement; executive director Chad Mathews said the festival provides crucial exposure for creators who often struggle with distribution channels.
During the festival period, Fort Worth will also host community events. Central Market's 14th annual Feast of Sharing is set for November 11 at Dickies Arena, offering free meals, health services and holiday activities for up to 10,000 guests. The third annual Fort Worth Songwriter Festival runs November 12-15 at Tulips FTW, with Ryan Bingham and the Texas Gentlemen performing at Billy Bob's Texas on November 14 and Lyle Lovett headlining at Bass Performance Hall.
The Lone Star Film Festival has been a cultural fixture of the city for 20 years. The festival advises audiences to check screening schedules at each venue in advance.
