Republicans Sweep Valley County Races in Idaho; Cascade Tax Renewal Passes and Adams County Approves a New Ambulance District

Unofficial results released November 4 in Valley County, Idaho, showed Republicans sweeping the county's offices and its state legislative seats. In the county commission races, Katlin Caldwell and Michael Weaver both won seats on the board.
In the legislature, incumbent state Rep. Rob Beiswenger won about 61% of the vote against independent Heather Lewis in District 8, which spans Boise, Custer, Elmore and Valley counties, taking 11,636 votes to Lewis's 7,523. Republican Brian Beckley won the district's other House seat with about 66%, and state Sen. Christy Zito was reelected unopposed. Voters in Cascade, in Valley County, also approved a five-year renewal of the local option tax and agreed to adjust how it is levied.
A separate measure passed in neighboring Adams County: voters in Meadows Valley approved, with nearly 69% and 633 votes in favor, a proposal to replace the existing ambulance district with a new one, along with school funding measures. All results are unofficial pending final confirmation by the Secretary of State's office.
