One person died and one was injured in a shooting in Columbus's Milo-Grogan neighborhood on the morning of November 4. Columbus police spokeswoman Nicole Jaros said officers responded at 7:37 a.m. to the 800 block of Gibbard Avenue, where they found two people who had been shot. Medics took both to local hospitals in critical condition; one died at 8:25 a.m., and the other remained in critical condition.

The shooting took place on Columbus's Near East Side on a weekday morning, drawing concern from nearby residents. Police said the identities of the person killed and the person injured have not been released, and details about what led up to the shooting — including whether the people involved knew each other and whether anyone else was involved — remain under investigation. Officers canvassed the scene and spoke with residents in the area.

Columbus police are asking anyone with information to come forward and say the investigation is in its early stages. Police also advise residents who see suspicious people or vehicles in the area to contact police directly rather than intervening themselves. As of midday November 4, police had not announced any arrests.

Milo-Grogan is a residential neighborhood on Columbus's Near East Side, where police have been stepping up community patrols and gun-violence prevention work in recent years. The motive for the early-morning shooting remains to be determined, and police say more information will be released as the investigation progresses.
