USPS Operation Santa Enters Its 114th Year: Adopter Registration Is Open, Letter Adoption Begins November 16

The U.S. Postal Service announced that its Operation Santa program is under way for its 114th year. Letters to Santa from children and individuals in need have been accepted since September 14; registration and identity verification for people and organizations who want to adopt letters opened on November 2, and letter adoption begins on November 16.
Under the program, wish letters addressed to Santa are posted anonymously on the USPS Operation Santa website. Adopters choose a letter, buy the gifts and ship them through the Postal Service. USPS notes that mailing a letter does not guarantee it will be posted, adopted or fulfilled.
Key dates: letters must be postmarked by December 5 and addressed to Santa Claus, 123 Elf Road, North Pole, 88888. Adoption closes at 8 p.m. Eastern on December 12, which is also USPS's recommended last day to ship Operation Santa gifts for delivery before Christmas. Guidelines for writing and adopting letters are on the USPS Operation Santa website.
