The U.S. Social Security Administration (SSA) says individual notices for the 2027 cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) of 3.6 percent will become available online in late November. Beneficiaries who create a personal my Social Security account by November 18 and opt in to paperless notices will be able to see their new 2027 benefit amount in the account's Message Center; paper notices will be mailed during December.

SSA announced on October 14 that the 2027 COLA is 3.6 percent: nearly 72 million Social Security beneficiaries will see the increase beginning in January 2027, with the average retirement benefit rising by about $75 a month, while increased payments to about 7.3 million Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients begin on December 31, 2026.

Beneficiaries without an online account can open one free of charge on the SSA website. Those who do not use online services need to take no action; paper notices will be mailed to the address on file.
